BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1974 in Gümüşhane, Numan Acar studied civil engineering in Germany before pursuing acting training. He began his acting career in 2003 with roles in TV series and films in Germany. He gained recognition in Turkey in 2004 with the film Kebab Connection. Acar also appeared in Hacivat ve Karagöz Neden ÖldürüldüBerlin Kaplanı, and the TV series Menekşe ile Halil. He received widespread acclaim for his performance in the U.S. TV series Homeland and was named "Breakout Actor" at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival by The Hollywood Reporter for his role in Fatih Akın's Paramparça (In the Fade), which won both a Golden Globe and awards at Cannes. Acar has also appeared in popular TV series like Prison Break and Jack Ryan, and in films such as Asif Kapadia's Ali & Nino, Guy Ritchie's Aladdin, Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Zhang Yimou's The Great Wall. Most recently, he starred in the Turkish film Gölgelerin İçinde, which earned numerous awards at film festivals.
