Born in Ankara in 1981, Mert Fırat completed his Acting education at Ankara University's Faculty of Language, History, and Geography and then pursued a Master's in Film and Drama at Kadir Has University. Since 2005, Fırat has been involved in numerous cinema, theater, and TV projects. He played leading roles in films such as Başka Dilde Aşk, Atlıkarınca, and Bir Varmış Bir Yokmuş, while also contributing as a screenwriter. With Atlıkarınca, he won the Best Screenplay Award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, and for Başka Dilde Aşk, he earned the Promising New Screenplay Award and Best Actor awards at the Ankara Film Festival, along with additional Best Actor honors at the Sadri Alışık and Yeşilçam Awards. A prominent figure in theater, Fırat has been performing on stage every year since his student days and is one of the founders of the Moda Sahnesi, Bursa SANATMAHAL, and DASDAS theaters. He continues to perform in plays such as Bütün Çılgınlar Sever Beni, Joseph K., Cyrano, Deli Bayramı, and Titus Kompleks at Moda Sahnesi and DASDAS. Fırat first appeared on television in 2000 with Bizim Evin Halleri (TRT1) and has since been featured in hit TV series like Binbir Gece and Kefaret. He is also a member of the management board of the world's first social cooperative, the Theater Cooperative, and a board member of the Yanındayız Association, which aims to achieve gender equality in Turkey. Additionally, he is one of the founders of www.ihtiyacharitasi.org and has served as the first Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkey since 2017.
